We didn’t have enough members for

Lawrence Noggle hosted a wonderful rally; great food, exceptional and plentiful
door prizes and we all had a good time.
We really enjoyed having Fred and
Lou Kennedy with us.
The weather was okay, not as hot
as it had been, some rain on Sat., which they said they really needed in that
area, so we were happy for them.
The Six state is collecting
blankets again so if you have any to give, bring or send them to Guthrie and
they will get to the Rally at the Rock.
Herb Little has most months filled
for 2009 but has a couple open so if you are interested in hosting a rally let
him know.

A business meeting of the Kansas Twisters was called to order by President Larry Robinson at 9:04 AM on October 13, 2007 with the pledge of allegiance. The meeting and rally were held at Rutlader RV Park in Louisburg , KS. Attending the rally and the meeting were Barber, Bennett, Cody, Elkins, Finley, Guerra, Hadsall, Haines, Hogoboom, Knight, Leiker, Little, Marlowe, McCandless, McDaniel, Murray, Noggle, Robinson, Ryel, Sattlethight, Schwart, Snelling, Staver, and J. Wright. Guests were Janice Cubine and Ellie Staver (Staver’s Granddaughter). Van Hengel drove in for the meeting.
Larry thanked everyone for coming and thanked the hosts, Dick & Bea Hadsall with Wayne & Edith Leiker assisting. He said there were 46 possible votes for the election.
The minutes of the September 24, 2007 meeting were approved as emailed and mailed. Secretary, Abby Murray, read correspondence from Blacklocks thanking Twisters for their support and flowers and Len Wright stating his bone cancer was no longer in remission. Loretta Marlowe had spoken to Mary Fischer saying she was still in considerable pain since her neck surgery.
Bonnie McCandless, Treasurer reported the balance as of October 01, 2007 was $2857.17 She had collected several dues at the meeting plus a check for $460 covering expenses of meals and show at this rally bringing present balance to $3167.07. Bills included $117.13 from Jan Erickson for flowers; $274.07 from Larry Robinson for postage and Sedalia meal ($211.39-approval for chapter to reimburse Robinsons for the meal was voted on at Sedalia meeting) and $64.38 from Key Connection for internet provider for web site from April 19, 2007 to April 19, 2008. Shirley Hogoboom moved the bills be paid. Motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Loretta Marlowe questioned who Dan Linnett was that had shown up on previous treasurer report. Bonnie answered that it was evidently a mistake and a telephone call had been made to get it corrected. It was the consensus that the check was probably from Dan Linn.
Dick Hadsall, Vice-President and Rally Master reported on 2008 rally schedule. Six hosts are needed.
See attached sheet for 2008 schedule.
Joe Wright, National Director gave his report last evening at the Twisters dinner. His report will be sent at a later date..
OLD BUSINESS- Dues ($10)are due October 1, 2007 and will be delinquent October 31st. There will not be any further late notices sent out .
NEW BUSINESS- Election. The chapter had received some faxed absentee ballots. After conferring with National FMCA By-law Chairman, Judy Czarsty, the Chapter was told the ballots were not acceptable. For ANY mailed in ballot to be acceptable the Chapter must have previously voted to accept such ballots. National reviewed the Kansas Twisters by-law and determined Article VI 3. E allows for balloting by mail if Chapter has previously voted to approve the mail ballots. The absentee ballots are not acceptable at the present election since no prior vote was taken to authorize such votes. Loretta asked that the absentee ballots be read. Larry had agreed but the executive board determined since the ballots were not acceptable for counting they should not be read.
Pat Robinson asked if the absentee ballots had been emailed or mailed to all Twisters or only chosen members and by whose authority. It was determined this was a mute point since the ballots were not allowable.
Larry asked Nomination Committee Chairman, Jim McDaniel, to please present the slate of officers to be considered for election. Jim named the following candidates: President-Larry Robinson; Vice-President-Bob Erickson & Herb Little; Secretary-Pat Robinson; Treasurer-Donna Snelling; National Director-Loretta Marlowe & Joe Wright; Alternate National Director-Dick Hadsall. The ballots had been preprinted but the Nominating Committee had some changes and additions and had made the changes on the ballots.
Larry opened for nominations from the floor. The position of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, National Director & Alternate National Director were individually opened for nomination. There were no nominations from the floor for any of the positions. In each case Larry Noggle moved that nominations cease and each motion was seconded and passed.
Joe Wright moved that President, Secretary, Treasurer and Alternate National Director (since they are running unopposed) be accepted by acclimation. Motion was seconded and passed with one nay.
Larry offered the opportunity for any candidate running for an office with multiple choices to express their view on the position. Bob Erickson was not present. Herb Little stated he was willing to do the job and had done it in the past. Loretta Marlowe stated she had told her thoughts and ideas to everyone already via email. She feels the total membership should be involved. In the modern day age everyone is busy. She feels if each office had a committee to help the person holding the office and fill in in case the officer could not be present it would make more people available to learn and be willing to hold an office. She felt this would include others than those who show up every month and get them involved. She would have no trouble getting to all the meetings and would enjoy the job. Albert Hogoboom asked who all received the emails she had sent. They had not received it and knew of several others who had not. Joe Wright begin by resigning his position as National Director so he could address the Chapter as an individual. He stated it was not the job of National Director to tell the Chapter what to do but to represent the Chapter at National as to wishes and directions of the Chapter. The Chapter has been split since last year and he would like to see it repaired. He felt the job is to follow the by-laws. The National Director needs to represent the Chapter at all times at Six State and National. Every member deserves the same consideration. A lot of emails went out. Some people received them and some did not. Every item Joe has had for the Chapter has been sent to all Twister members and he feels that is the way it should be.
Ballots were passed out and Larry declared a recess while the counters-Edith Leiker and Wanda Ryel with Shirley Hogoboom as reader tally the ballots.
The Chapter was called back to order at 10:00 AM. Nominating Chairman announced the two positions were filled by Herb Little as Vice-President and Joe Wright as National Director.
Larry asked if there was any other business. Larry Noggle stated the Robinsons were hosts for the Sedalia get together and he moved they be reimbursed for one nights parking. Motion was seconded and passed.
Walt Bennett moved we dissolve the web site. Motion was seconded. After discussion the motion was put to a vote. With a show of hands it was determined the majority wanted the web site to remain.
Dick Hadsall stated he did not like the web site, profile book and membership being controlled by one person. He also stated Twister members were being encouraged to join Covered Wagons. Dave Marlowe said no Twisters member had been asked to leave the Twisters and join Covered Wagons.
Larry announced Philip Marlowe had been elected as president of the FMCA youth group again.
Larry thanked everyone for their support.
Loretta asked to address the Chapter. She stated she was surprised by the calls wanting to send in absentee ballots to support her. It was overwhelming and made her feel so good. She stated she was fighting for the total membership and wanted to work for the Chapter. Just needs time and she plans to run again.
She stated FMCA is in financial straits and she thought this would save them paying additional electricity etc. for another Director as Dave would already be going. Thanks.
Joe Wright stated we are a chapter and old friends. We’re not politicians. Let’s all pull together and do what is good for the Chapter. He’d like to see everyone get involved and make Twisters a good Chapter.
If Loretta had won he would support her to the fullest and he felt sure she would support him.
Door prize drawings: McDaniel, Snelling, Marlowe, Cody, Staver & Barber won coupons from Louisburg Cider Mill. Nancy Wright won a FMCA fleece blanket; Ray Barber won FMCA double deck of cards; Pat Robinson won a tote donated by Bea Hadsall.
Jim McDaniel moved we adjourn at 10:25 AM.
Abby M. Murray
Secretary
Addendum: The Chapter Treasurer’s books were audited by Deann Guerra & Ann Barber and found to be in good standing before Bonnie turned the records over to new treasurer.
I would like to tell everyone thanks for their help and
support. I have enjoyed being your Secretary this past year. Some months were
easier than others. Thanks for the opportunity. Abby

Richard and Carol Goss have joined the Twisters and plan to help in Sedalia.
Larry thanked the hosts Leiker, Maneth and McClelland for a good rally.
Secretary, Abby Murray reported she had sent national FMCA the information naming the National Director who would represent Kansas Twisters at the Redmond, OR. International Rally. She sent the information in early May and forgot to report it last month. She reminded the members present that she had a few copies of the roster to give anyone interested. Larry asked if there were any additions or corrections to the May minutes that were emailed and mailed to members. Virginia Sumner moved the minutes be accepted as presented. The motion was seconded and passed.
Treasurer, Bonnie McCandless reported the balance was $3318.40 as of May 31, 2007. The treasurer’s report can be found on the chapter web site: www.kansastwisters,net. Bonnie reported she had received several bills today and Edith would get the bills for the rally to her. Edith said she had purchased supplies for the Chapter that would make the rally expense exceed the rally income. The supplies are passed on to the next host, Ron Coleman moved the treasurer report be accepted as presented.. Motion was seconded and passed. Loretta Marlowe thanked everyone for the two night free camping they won.
Vice-President and Wagon master, Dick Hadsall is continuing to work on the 2008 rally schedule. He reported Shawnee Lake would charge $200 for the use of a building so he is looking for another site. Dick is working to keep the July meeting for nominations and the October meeting for election as available as possible for all members. Bob Gay reported on a new campground that will open next spring just east of Topeka. Bob is going to check on it and get the information to Dick.
National Director, Joe Wright reminded everyone of the National election coming up. Candidate profiles are in the current FMCA magazine. He asked for input from members as how they want him to vote. Fred Kennedy is the new Central Area Vice-President and President of the 6 State Organization. The 6 State officer change will take place in Sedalia in September. Joe had made a graph of job assignments in Sedalia. He asked everyone to check it for additions and corrections. He reminded everyone to register for 6 State Rally (can do that on line) but DO NOT register as volunteers.
Old Business:
Larry reported the tape recorder for the secretary had not been purchased yet. Bonnie McCandless stated had a recorder she would donate to the Chapter for the secretary (if she could find it).
Larry reported Kansas Twisters is the largest chapter that has been asked to volunteer this year at 6 State. He was asked for 28 coaches that would serve trams (13), radios (2) and parking (13). Each coach to serve a total of 24 hours throughout the entire time. Steve Pickens who is in charge of parking had written Larry and told him the requirement for parking on Saturday, Sunday and Monday would be 36-47 people . Larry asked for input from membership. After discussion Walt Bennett moved Kansas Twisters provide the additional manpower 6 State asked for. Motion was seconded and passed.
Larry reminded everyone of the small quilts to be donated at 6 State at Sedalia. They are donated to law enforcement agencies to be used as needed.
Kansas Twisters received a request for door prizes to be given away at 6 State. After considerable discussion a committee consisting of Carolyn Bennett, Wayne McCandless, Edith Leiker and Bob Guerra were named to choose door prizes. Bea Hadsall moved a total of $100 be used to purchase door prizes. Motion was seconded and passed.
Discussion followed about items to be given by Kansas Twisters to those attending the 6 State rally. After mentioning several items it was decided to give lapel pins with Kansas Twisters and 6 State, Sedalia noted on them. Wayne McCandless moved $80 be allowed for lapel pins. Motion was seconded. Motion failed because didn’t feel it would provide the number of lapel pins needed. Bob Guerra stated he would make the lapel pins for twenty cents each. He would provide the pins for the back but members would have to glue the pins to the backs of the pieces. Wayne moved we make 1000 lapel pins for the 6 State rally. Motion was seconded and passed.
Announcements:
Marilyn Kauffman will embroider Kansas Twisters information on a denim shirt the member provides for her for $10. It was also reported that Joyce Finley would embroider shirts. Marilyn will also make the small Kansas Twister flag to hang in front of your coach for $15.

the rally and the meeting were Diehl/Sumner, Hadsall, Hermreck, Hogoboom,
Leiker, Marlowe, McDaniel, Robinson, VanHengel, Walker and J. Wright. Driving
in for the meeting were Linn, Little, Murray and L. Wright. Erickson and Speer
attended the rally. Guests were Jerry and Mavis Horner and John VanHengel’s mother.
Larry thanked hosts Bob & Twila Hermreck and Phil & Margaret Walker and
commented they sure provided better weather than in April.
Larry
asked if there were any additions or corrections to the April minutes that had
been emailed or mailed to all the members. Albert Hogoboom moved the minutes be
accepted as mailed. Motion was seconded and passed.
Abby
Murray, Secretary, reported there was no correspondence. Pat Robinson reported
on Norma Sattlethight and Edith Leiker reported on Bus McClelland.
There
was no treasurer’s report as the treasurer had a conflict and could not be
present.
Larry
reported on bills: $132.70 and $70.34 for rally expense and $29.50 to Hermrecks
to reimburse one nights camping for the host. (Walkers coach is in the shop so they
did not have a parking charge). Larry mentioned the two nights free parking
that he had offered at the holiday dinner in January that Marlowes won. Joe
Wright moved the bills be paid. The motion was seconded and passed.
Larry
asked Dick Hadsall, Vice President, if he wanted to report on rallies. Dick
asked Edith to report on the June rally in Salina. Edith reported she had
reservations for 20 coaches to attend the rally and 12 are going to dinner.
Dick reported there were good rallies scheduled for 2007 and 2008. The numbers
attending the rallies was bothering him. Reservations for 30-35 coaches were
originally made with the campgrounds. He has reduced that number to 20 coaches
except for July and October. Felt that was only fair to the campgrounds. He asked
when reservations are made at the campground you also notify the host of your
intentions. Suggested if you knew you planned to attend that you go ahead and
make your reservations months ahead. The 2008 schedule had been emailed and
mailed to all members with a request for input on the schedule. The only
suggestion was that rather than Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson Spring
Lake Campground at Halstead be considered.
Joe
Wright, National Director, reported national elections are coming up. Information
on the election will be in June FMCA magazine. South Central Area Vice
President election is also soon. The person elected is also President of the
Six State organization. The men running are Fred Kennedy and Larry Landes. Joe
has both men’s resumes and anyone interested can take a look at them. He wants
input as to who the Chapter would like to see elected. FMCA seems to be pretty
sound. They lost considerable funds last year but also cut expenses so the lost
was not extensive. FMCA is worried what the gas prices are doing to motorhomes.
There has been an increase in camper sales but a decrease in motorhome sales.
New
Business: Dick Hadsall stated he felt the chapter should purchase a recorder
for the secretary to use. Shirley Hogoboom moved the Chapter purchase a
recorder for the use of the presiding secretary. The motion was seconded and
passed.
Announcements:
Loretta has reservations for 6 coaches to make the caravan to National rally at
Redmond, OR. There is room for 4 more coaches.
There
won’t be door prize drawings this morning at the meeting. The hosts planned to
have them this evening at the supper.
Joe
Wright brought a cake for the Mothers.
For
nametags contact Abby.
For
Kansas Twisters information on shirts contact Marilyn Kauffman.
Jim
McDaniel moved the meeting be adjourned at 9:55AM.

Kansas Twisters-April minutes
The first regular meeting of 2007 of the Kansas Twisters was called to order by President Larry Robinson at 9:00 AM on April 14, 2007 with the pledge of allegiance. The rally was held at the Kansas State Fairgrounds and the meeting held in Dillon Hall of the 4-H Building. Hosts were Pat & Larry Robinson with Don & Abby Murray assisting.
Larry welcomed everyone present and ‘thanked’ the hosts. Members attending their first rally were
CW & Carole Butler, Dave & Sue Carey, Don Hoover & Geri Vanover, Carl & Janet Knight and Elaine Little. Guests included Crists, Garcias, Vehs and Carly Fitzgerald.. Members present were: Bartels, Bennett, Blacklock, Coleman, Diehl/Sumner, Elkins, Erickson, Fischer, Guerra, Hadsall, Headrick, Hermreck, Hildebrand, Hogoboom, Kauffman, Keegan, Leiker, Little, McCandless, McClelland, McDaniel, McDiffitt, Murray, Noggle, Nusser, Robinson, Sattlethigh, Snelling, Speer, Staver, Walker, J. Wright, and L. Wright. Larry introduced the officers and everyone else introduced themselves and their spouse.
Minutes of the October 13-14, 2006 meetings were emailed and mailed to the membership. Larry asked if the minutes were accepted as mailed. Don Murray asked the minutes be corrected to read that he had nominated Larry Robinson to the nominating committee. The minutes were accepted as corrected. Abby reported thank yous had been received from Bonnie McCandless for the flowers and from Loretta Marlowe for the plaque. Loretta mentioned she would continue making the Pocket Directories and asked for help taking pictures at rallies she didn’t attend. .If interested in receiving a Pocket Directory you can contact her.
Jan Erickson gave a report of the flower and card activity. Flowers were sent to Carlos Blacklock, Donna Nusser & Albert Hogoboom. She mentioned the deaths of Bob & Leta Morgan (charter members) and Nancy Wright’s parents. Upcoming surgeries mentioned were Mary Fischer, Hal Heineken, Norma Sattlethigh and Bob Erickson..
Treasurer, Bonnie McCandless, reported a balance of $2974.32 as of March 31, 2007. There will be deposits of $840 for the Underground Salt Museum tour .
National Director, Joe Wright, reported on the national elections that will be held this year. Candidates will be presented in the June FMCA magazine. He asked that the chapter let him know how they would like for him to vote. Joe has the statistics and financial records for FMCA and anyone is welcome to look at them. FMCA membership dropped a little last year and so far this year has raised a little. Joe also reported the 6 State Association elections are this year . 6 State rally is the last week of September and the Twisters have been invited to be one of the host chapters. Robinsons, J. Wrights and Hadsalls are going to Sedalia this week for a planning meeting. After expenses 70% of the profits from the rally are divided with the host chapters.
Rally master, Dick Hadsall, encouraged everyone to make reservations for the rallies just as soon as possible. It makes it easier for hosts to make plans. Bob Hermreck told of the May rally in Wichita and the reservations have to be made right away because the campground will not hold the reserved spots much longer. Need 25 coaches to get the discounted price. Venture RV is providing the meat for the pot luck meal. Leikers reported on the June rally in Salina and asked everyone to sign up early. Dick reported sites suggested for 2008 included Bartleville, OK., Claremore Race track, Parsons RV park, Pineville, Council Grove, Abilene, Topeka casinos, Shawnee Lake, Lawrence KOA, Garden City and Hays.
Old business: Dave Marlowe resigned as Alternate National Director to take the position of National Director of the new chapter. The nominating committee asked for volunteers to fill the position. Abby nominated Albert Hogoboon. Dick Hadsall nominated Bob Fischer. After discussion Jan Erickson move nominations cease. Vote was taken by show of hands with Margaret Walker helping count. Albert Hogoboon was nominated Alternate National Director.
Standing rule 11 was discussed. It states ‘The Treasurer will pay documented bills presented by rally hosts and business expense bills from officers. Payment of bills presented is at discretion of the Treasurer. The Treasurer may defer payment until approval of the general membership is granted at the next business meeting’. There was discussion that all bills should be presented to membership before payment. After discussion and input from the Treasurer Brad Elkins moved to leave Standing Rule 11 as it stands. Motion was seconded. Bob Erickson move for the end of discussion. Vote was taken and the decision is to leave Standing Rule 11 as it is written.
Larry suggested the Chapter give 2 free nights of camping fees to be used within the next two rallies. Winner would be chosen by a drawing. Considerable discussion followed. Jan Erickson made a motion that the rally host (1)and co-host(1) receive one free night camping at their rally. Motion was seconded and passed.
Standing Rule 6 was discussed. In the By-laws it states the Nominating Committee is to be elected. In Standing Rule 6 is says the Nominating Committee will be named each July. The difference has caused problems in the past. Len Wright made the motion the word ‘named’ be changed to ‘elected’ so that Standing Rule 6 should read: Nominating committee will be elected each July. Motion was seconded and passed.
Bob Erickson moved if a campground allocates free camping to a host the Chapter host free camping fee should be put in the door prize drawing for the members present. Motion was seconded and passed.
New Business: Larry asked for a show of hands for those willing to volunteer at the 6 State Rally in Sedalia. There were approximately 20 present who were willing to volunteer. Larry said that would help him this next week when he was at the 6 State Rally planning sessions.
The donated blanket program was discussed. 6 State Rally gathers blankets to be donated to police, EMTs etc. Edith Leiker will again head our Chapter’s efforts. Blankets can be crocheted, knit, sewed or bought.
She would appreciate getting just as many as possible. You can bring her the blankets and she will present them at 6 State Rally for Kansas Twisters.
No other new business.
Margaret Walker said she was selling chances for 2 airline tickets. The drawing is to benefit Cystic Fibrosis. She has to turn in the money by May 5th.
Larry presented a Kansas Twister plaque to Larry Noggle for his service as Alternate National Director in 2006. He also had a plaque to present to Bill Speer for his service to Twisters as President in 2006. Bill was not at the meeting. (Larry presented Bill the plaque at the evening supper.)
Pat Robinson returned the $1 fee for not wearing a nametag to the Underground Salt Museum to Phil Walker since it was his birthday. Everyone sang happy birthday to him.
A door prize drawing was held: Loleta Staver & Bea Hadsall won trivets (donated by Noggles),;Norma Sattlethigh won FMCA Atlas; Wayne Leiker & Margaret Walker won FMCA first Aid kits; Carlos Blacklock won a fire starter (donated by JC RV); Keegans won TV grips (donated by JC RV) and Knights won a sink cutting board (donated by JC RV).
Larry & Pam Noggle donated a 100 cup coffee pot to Kansas Twisters.
Jan Erickson moved to adjourn at 10:25.

KANSAS TWISTERS
Chapter of FMCA
The annual election business meeting of the Kansas Twisters Chapter of FMCA was held at Cedar Oaks RV Park in Grove OK on October 13-14, 2006. A total of 29 coaches / 57 members were present : Allen, Bennett, Conn, Elkins, Erickson, Finley, Fischer, Guerra, Haas, Hadsall, Haines, Hogoboom, Marlowe, McCandless, McClelland, McDaniel, Murray, Noggle, Perrier, Robinson, Ryel, Sattlethight, Schwart, Snelling, Staver, Speer, VanHengel, Vester, J.Wright, & Little.
Both president & secretary were present. President Bill Speer called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. He thanked hosts Larry & Pam Noggle, who received a round of applause for all their work. Larry Noggle reviewed the schedule for the weekend. The president welcomed and presented Twister Mugs to Robert & DeAnn Guerra, who were attending their 1st rally, and to new members Bob & Pat Haines, who were introduced to the club by Walter Bennett. This brings our membership to 110 coaches.
Minutes
Secretary Wanda Ryel reported the minutes of the September 15, 2006 meeting had been mailed or e-mailed to all members. There were no corrections. Brad Elkins moved to accept the minutes as submitted. Jim McDaniel seconded. Motion passed.
Cards & Flowers Chairperson Jan Erickson reported she had sent flowers/cards to Walter Bennett & Sharon Cody. She had a card for everyone to sign to send to Bob Morgan who is receiving hospice care for kidney cancer. Chuck Perrier reported on health problems Don Burrow has had.
Treasurer Bonnie McCandless reported the treasury balance as of 9/30/06 was $4259.29. Herb Little moved the treasurer's report be accepted as presented. Carolyn Bennett seconded. Motion passed.
Bill Speer presented the following bill to be paid: $89.08 for voting by mail supplies. Carol Vester moved the bill be paid. Mary McDaniel seconded. Voting was by show of hands. Motion passed with 9 opposed.
VP/Rallymaster Dick Hadsall reported he has some literature on next year's rally sites that he could give to the rally hosts. It was again brought up that our Standing Rules call for the May, July, & Sept rallies to be on the 1st weekend of the month when possible. The July 2007 rally is scheduled for the 13-15 (2nd weekend). Richard Vester stated this rule has been adhered to in the past, except for a few times when accomodations had to be made for specific festivals, events, etc. Dick Hadsall stated he didn't want to hear any more about changing the dates, because it's at his discretion as Rallymaster.
National Director Joe Wright handed out copies of his report on the 6-State Board meeting held 9/26/06 in Beaumont TX. He keeps copies on file for anyone who is interested.
Webmaster/Directory Chairperson Loretta Marlowe (proud grandma) reported her grandson Philip was elected president of FMCA's TATS (Teen-Age-Travelers) and is pictured in the latest issue of Family Motor Coaching magazine. She also said you might want to wait a little to buy new directory books - she'll have them updated with new members' pictures by the end of the year. However, she keeps the website updated every few days.
The next item on the Meeting Agenda was: "Old Business / Unfinished Business: Election of 2007 Officers ~call for members who did not vote by mail to cast votes." However, as the president started this, Joe Wright requested the floor to present a "Point of Order". He passed out copies of the Chapter ByLaws and a prepared statement which he read, charging our president with violating numerous ByLaws. Namely: #1 the president appointed the nominating committee; #2 balloting by mail was not voted on ; #3 failure to elect officers at the annual October meeting. Heated discussion ensued. Counter points made included:
re:violation #1 - Elkins, Marlowe & Vester said the president did not appoint them, they volunteered [ByLaws article VII states nomin.comm. will be elected yearly. Standing Rule #6 states nomin.comm. will be named each July] ;
re:violation#2 - several members said the vote by mail was voted on at the July meeting. Albert Hogoboom said he objected to it then & objects to it now. [the July Minutes do not reflect a vote, only that ballots would be mailed in Sept & counted at Oct meeting] ;
re:violation#3 - election was taking place at the annual October meeting [the "Vote by Mail" Procedures, included with the Sept Minutes, clearly call for those who have not voted by mail to cast their ballots at the Oct. meeting & for the votes to be tabulated at the Oct. meeting].
Comments were also made that if people had thought since July that violations had been made, they should have brought this to the attention of the chapter sooner. Dean Staver moved to table the election and continue the meeting tomorrow. Norma Sattlethight seconded. After more discussion, the motion was withdrawn. Albert Hogoboom moved to elect a new nominating committee tonight. Walter Bennett seconded. Motion passed. Jim McDaniel nominated the same 3 members who had volunteered in July. Brad Elkins accepted, David Marlowe & Richard Vester declined. Walter Bennett nominated Albert Hogoboom. Larry Robinson, Jim McDaniel, & Bob Fischer volunteered. Brad Elkins moved to accept the new nominating committee. Motion passed. At 8:00 pm the nominating committee retired to assemble a new slate of officers. President Speer continued the meeting and held drawings for numerous door prizes. Larry Robinson, chairman of nominating committee, asked Bill Speer, Wanda Ryel, David Marlowe, and Joe Wright if they would accept the nomination again. Marlowe and Wright accepted. Speer and Ryel declined under the circumstances. Robinson stated the committee would have a slate ready in the morning. It was announced that tomorrow we'd be in a different meeting room, with Happy Hour 5-6, Dinner 6-7, & Meeting at 7:00pm. At 8:25 pm, Herb Little moved to reconvene at 7:00 pm tomorrow. Bonnie McCandless seconded. Motion passed.
Saturday October 14, 2006: Meeting was reconvened at 7:00 pm. President Bill Speer called on the Chairman of the Nominating Committee to present the Slate of 2007 Officer Nominees. Chairman Larry Robinson presented the following slate - -
President: Larry Robinson
VicePresident: Dick Hadsall
Secretary: Abby Murray
Treasurer: Dave Marlowe and Bonnie McCandless
National Director: Joe Wright
Alternate Ntl.Dir: Dave Marlowe
The president called for discussion & any nominations from the floor. Gary Allen nominated Bill Speer for President. Speer declined. Jim McDaniel moved to close nominations. Brad Elkins seconded. Motion passed. The president informed us there were 3 ways to vote: by Voice, Written Ballot, or Roll Call. Dick Hadsall moved to take a written ballot. Abby Murray seconded. After discussion, Dick Hadsall amended his motion to include voting by voice acclamation for the uncontested positions. Walter Bennett seconded. Motion passed with 9 opposed.
Vote was taken to accept nominees of Larry Robinson -President, Dick Hadsall -VP, Abby Murray -Secr, Joe Wright -Ntl Dir., and Dave Marlowe -Alt.Ntl.Dir. by acclamation. These officers were elected, with 9 opposed votes.
The president then asked for volunteers to tally the ballots of the written vote for Treasurer. Jan Erickson, Chuck Perrier, & Richard Snelling volunteered. A head count was taken of those present to vote - 55 were counted. President Speer stated that thus a simple majority of 28 votes were needed to win. There were no nominations from the floor. Walter Bennett moved to close the poll. Jim McDaniel seconded. Motion passed. After the ballots were counted, the President announced that Bonnie McCandless was the winner. President Speer congratulated the new officers and affirmed that they would take over their duties effective January 1, 2007.
New Business
Loretta Marlowe asked if there would be a full refund before Dec.31 of dues already paid, to members who had voiced regret over having paid their renewal dues. The president did not know of any precedent for this and urged members to reconsider dropping out.
Frederick Haas thanked the outgoing officers for their service and requested a round of applause for them.
Richard Vester requested the floor and thanked the Noggles for hosting the rally and the current officers & president for their hard work this year. Referring to himself as the "illegal chairman of the nominating committee", he thanked Bill Speer for doing a very successful "vote by mail" and stated that the only reason he didn't do it when he was president was that he didn't want to do the extra work involved. He stated he had 66 unopened envelopes in his rig and voiced regret that the election was based on less than 30% of potential voters, instead of nearly 80% of the membership (had the approx 132 advance ballots been counted in addition to 20-30 people at the meeting who had not voted by mail).
Jim McDaniel moved to adjourn the meeting. Bob Erickson seconded. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:37 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Wanda Ryel, secretary
Personal Note from Secretary:
Thank you for the confidence placed in me as your secretary. I'm sorry I was unable to attend the July meeting when this issue apparently first surfaced (& I really regret not getting a tape recorder!). I've done the best job I could for you all year, including trying to give an accurate accounting of what took place at the October meeting. I sincerely apologize to all those members who were not able to attend the Oct.meeting and mailed in their ballots in good faith, only to have them thrown out. I consider it a privilege to have served with president Bill Speer these last 10 months. I found him to be an excellent leader & can confidently say that any mistakes he made were unintentional & not malicious. His actions were guided by a desire to make Twister membership & rallies easier & more enjoyable, and for all members to have a voice.

The members responded with a thunderous applause.
--Cards and Flowers Chairman: Jan Erickson announced the current prognosis of several members undergoing medical treatment. Jan asked for advice about how to respond to after-the-fact notices about member illnesses. It was decided by the membership that Jan use her discretion about what sort of "get well" greeting should be sent. --President: Bill Speer announced that anyone interested in joining the Twister Caravan to the FMCA National Rally in Charlotte, NC should call Wanda Ryel immediately.

Walls and his wife who had two coaches for display.
Joe
Wright, President, thanked all the officers that worked
with him for the past two years to make our chapter run smoothly. Walter
Bennett said,” No organization is any
better than the leader and I want to tell you this man has worked his tail off
at every meeting we’ve ever had and you’ve seen him out here this weekend. He’s over here early every morning, he hauls
things in, hauls things out, got the tables and chairs for us, and he has gone
above and beyond the call of duty and I think that he deserves a standing
ovation. “
Edith
Leiker, Secretary,
asked if there were any corrections or additions to the last minutes, there
were none. Laveta Wass made a motion to accept the minutes and Brad Elkins seconded it. They stand as written.
Bob
Erickson,
Treasurer, wasn’t at the meeting, so the September and final report will be
sent later. Alice Elkins will audit the books before they are turned over to
the new Treasurer
Joe
Wright
passed out a listing of our rallies for next year, and a new roster
listing. (Please check all the information, and let me, Edith, know if there and are corrections needed before I turn it
over to the new Secretary.
Herb
Little, Vice
President, thanked Joe for taking
over his duties while he was gone. He
lost his wife, Jan, July 19th
so he had not been able to be with us this summer.
Edith
said
we donated 114 quilts to the Six-State rally in Hutchinson, and our web site
took second place there. A big Thank You & Good Job Loretta Marlowe,
for that. Connie Unrein another member turned in 500 books for the book
exchange. Thanks to all that donated
the quilts.
Larry
Schwart, National
Director, said they elected the same officers as we have had except one; the
new vice president if from Arkansas. He
had been asked by members if the Six-State rally is still being held in
Beaumont, Texas next year and the answer is yes, as of now. Lastly, he thanked all for their cooperation
during his term and he enjoyed serving the Twisters.
Dave
& Loretta Marlowe’s grandson, Philip, was elected vice president of the
Teen-Age Travelers group at the FMCA rally in Minot, North Dakota. He also got up early each morning to help
pass out daily newsletters at the coffee hour each morning. Pat yourselves on the backs Dave & Loretta.
Joe
& Nancy Wright, Bill & Laveta Wass, Chuck & Mary Perrier, and Don
& Dorothy Burrow were out hosts for our final and great rally. The entertainment was fabulous. The “Cowboy” music brought back old
memories. Saturday evening meal was
cooked and served by the Good Sam Club of Parsons and was it ever delicious.
I, Edith,
wish to thank the others officers I worked with for a wonderful
experience. I enjoyed it, it was fun
and I know the new secretary will do a great job for the club. Thanks to all the Twisters for their
support.
We then held our annual elections for
President, Vice-President/Rally Master, Secretary, Treasurer, National
Director, and Alternate National Director.
The appointed positions for Web Master, Flower Fund, & Profile Book
were asked to stay on until the new President either reappoint or replace them.

June 4, 2005 Louisburg,
Kansas
Joe Wright, President,
called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and a welcome to all.
The June 2005 General Meeting was
held at the Rutladers RV Resort outside of Louisburg, Kansas with 24 coaches
and 47 members present. Members were Allison,
Blacklock, Eis, Elkins, Finley, Fischer, Gay, Hadsall, Hogoboom, Kauffman,
Leiker, Marlowe, McCandless, Murray, Noggle, Pashman, Robinson, Sattlethight, Schwart, Speer, Tetters, Walker, Wass,
and Wright. Guests were Vince
and Marilyn Di Pasquale, guests of Bill & Pearl Speer.
Joe mentioned that we
have new members, they are Steve & Susie Cardwell and Russ & Judy Haley. That gives us a total of 100 coaches.
Hosts were Dick & Bea Hadsall
and co-hosts Albert & Shirley Hogoboom.
We had breakfast Friday and Saturday mornings, even though we had to
fight the ants for food before the owners sprayed, finger foods Friday evening,
and a catered dinner Saturday evening before the show. All had a great time, even though we had a LOT of rain.
Edith Leiker, Secretary,
asked for corrections or additions to the minutes of the last meeting. There were none, so Abby Murray moved that the minutes stand and Dick Hadsall seconded it.
Edith read correspondence from: Terry & Toni Crane, “To all the
Kansas Twisters, Toni and I would like to thank each of you for the flowers and
all the very nice cards we have received this year for her stay in the
hospital. As of May 10, 2005 she is at
home. Each day Toni must go back to the
Dr’s office for treatment at least for the next 10 days. Once again, Thank
You.”
Ron & Sherry Barnhart,
telling us of a Branson map correction, “…. at the intersection of Shepard of
the Hills Expressway & West Highway 76, the theater that is listed is no
longer Country Tonight that it is currently The Ray Stevens Theater….”
FMCA Six-State Rally Assoc., “I
am the door prize coordinator for the September 2005 Six State rally in Hutchinson,
KS. The organizers and I are hoping
that each of the chapters will enhance and support the rally by donating a door
prize. If your chapter decides in favor
of our request, please e-mail me with your commitment. You may mail to me between 1 August and 10
September, otherwise, PLEASE bring it to the rally and leave it at the Rally
Office with my name on it. I would like
to thank you in advance for your consideration. Any questions may be directed to me at my e-mail address or you
can reach me on cell. Danean Mitchell.
Edith also reminded
members of the quilts. If you have any,
get them to me, Edith, if you want to
make some and need directions get with me, or if you want to buy the fleece and
can’t or don’t want to finish them, I will do that also, just call or e-mail
me. wleikersr@cox.net,
316/321-6819 or 316/323-7361. We need them ready for the Six-State Rally at
Hutchinson in September.
Jan Erickson, Treasurer,
was in the hospital for gall bladder surgery and missed the meeting. Joe talked to her and she will get
the treasurers report to me and I will get it out.
Larry Schwart, National
Director, gave a report on the FMCA officer nominees. Unless the Kansas Twister
members tell him different, he will vote for Don Moore, President, Max Durban,
Vice President, Ginger Painter, Secretary, and Jim Kern, Treasurer. He also said, “I represent the Kansas
Twisters, so if you have any suggestions or questions, get with me.” Larry will be at our July meeting
and information about each of the nominees will be in the July FMCA magazine,
so we can read about their qualifications.
Joe talked to Herb
Little, Vice President/Wagon Master, and he hasn’t made up his mind
yet if he will be staying with our group
or not. Joe told him if not, we
need a written resignation from him since he is an elected official.
Marilyn Kauffman made
host flags and donated them to the chapter.
That way we just have to look for the flag that says HOST and not try to
find what coach the hosts have.
Pam Noggle donated three
Fourth of July decorations she made for door prizes.
Nancy Wright donated two
boxes of candy for door prizes.
Edith & Wayne Leiker donated
a stainless steel tea container.
Bob Finley talked about the
July rally in Branson, Missouri. If
anyone has not gotten the agenda yet let me know. You need to get with him ASAP if you are going so they know how
many spots to save.
Once again, Bob Finley acted as Wagon
Master and will continue as long as needed.
Thanks Bob.
Dave & Loretta Marlowe
will be taking care of the August rally in Minden, Nebraska in place of Herb
& Jan Little. Marlowe’s
are also heading the caravan to Minot, North Dakota.
Bob & Jan Erickson are
hosting the September rally at Gunsmoke Campground in Dodge City, Kansas.
Joe & Nancy Wright are
hosting the October rally at the Fairgrounds in Coffeyville, Kansas.

GET RESERVATIONS IN.

Loretta Marlowe made a
motion that we make a maximum of $100.00 per donation, Larry Robinson seconded
it and there was discussion. After
discussion, Bill Wass made a motion to accept it, Bill Speer seconded
it. Majority voted no so the motion did
not pass and it was dropped.
Joe explained the duties
of the nominating committee, Abby Murray, Dick Hadsall, Dave Marlowe,
with Shirley
Hogoboom as alternate were chosen or volunteered. Brad Elkins moved that the
nominations cease and it was voted on and approved. They will choose a
committee chairperson and report their slate of nominees at our October
meeting. At that meeting we will vote
on our officers for 2006. If any Kansas Twister member wants to run
for an office, or knows someone that would make a good officer, get that
person’s approval first, then get with one of the committee persons. Be at the October meeting to vote.

KANSAS TWISTERS MAY MEETING
May 7, 2005 Abilene, Kansas
Joe Wright, our chapter president opened the
meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a welcome to all.
The May 2005 meeting was held at the Covered Wagon RV Resort in Abilene, Kansas on May 7, 2005 with 29 coaches and 58 members present. They were Bennett, Blacklock, Burrow, Diehl, Elkins, Erickson, Finley, Fischer, Goff, Haas, Kauffman, Koons, Leiker, Linn, Marlowe, McCandless, Murray, Nusser, Perrier, Rea, Roberts, Robinson, Ryel, Sattlethight, Schwart, Staver, Vester, Wass, Wright, and Maneth’s joined us for dinner Saturday evening. We had the privilege of having four new members present, Fred & Thadene Haas, and Dick & Sandy Rea, and two that joined our chapter in Abilene, Chuck and Mary Perrier. WELCOME!!!!!!!! We also had a very special guest for both evening suppers. She is Stella Holt a friend of Joe & Nancy Wright. She helped us with the price for the Senior Citizen Center. Thanks Stella! I will be getting a Thank You note out to her.
Two of our members have recently
been married. They are Norma Robbins, who married Harold Sattlethight, and Maurice Goff who married Nancy.
Congratulations to you both and
many happy years together!!!
Hosts were Edith & Wayne Leiker and Steve & Mary Koons. Friday evening we had a Soup and Salad supper, Saturday evening Abby Murray gave a demonstration of what her service dog BB does for her, then we enjoyed a catered dinner by Brookville Chicken House. This all took place at the Senior Citizens Center. Saturday’s breakfast of biscuits, gravy and scrambled eggs was held at the house on the campground, as was Sunday’s breakfast of rolls and muffins. Friday and Saturday after dinner we had “mudslides” and played dice and card games at the camp house.
Edith Leiker, secretary, asked if there were any corrections or additions to the April minutes. There were none so Larry Robinson made a motion to accept the minutes and Bob Finley seconded it. All were in favor and the motion passed.
Edith read correspondence from Bea Hadsall, Toni Crane, and Wayne Leiker, who received flowers while in the hospital. Jan Erickson gave the latest report on Toni Crane that her kidneys are working now and we all gave her a round of applause. She has been very ill for a long time and we wish her a speedy full recovery.
Jan Erickson passed out copies of the treasurer’s report that follows:
February 28, 2005 Balance Forward $ 4,342.45
March 31, 2005 Balance $ 4,342.45
April Deposits 442.25
Edith had a bill for office supplies totaling $129.41.
Bob & Jan Erickson belong to another chapter that has asked her to be Secretary. She said yes, then the FMCA office sent her a letter saying “you cannot be an officer in two chapters” so she asked our chapter if her husband, Bob, could be our Treasurer with her as spokesperson. If she is re-elected as the Kansas Twister treasurer, she will resign as the other chapters Secretary. Larry Schwart made a motion that Bob Erickson, at this meeting, be elected to serve as Treasurer of Kansas Twisters in replacement of Jan Erickson current Treasurer. Laveta Wass seconded it, and the motion passed.
Joe Wright said we need as many as possible to come to the June rally because that will be the first of the two General Meetings that is required by FMCA. We will be appointing a nominating committee who will be getting members names to put on the ballot for 2006 officers. That election will be held in October 2005.
Larry Schwart our National Director handed out his report and said a few words about it. In addition to that, he stated that last week he voted for Tony Innocenti, who ran unopposed, as the area vice-president. The National Office election will be held in Minot, North Dakota and Larry said he would be there to vote for our chapter.
Herb Little, our wagon master is selling his motorhome and hasn’t decided for sure what he and Jan will be doing. Joe will be getting back with him to find out something definite. We will need something in writing from him since he is an elected officer. Bob Finley has stepped in to work as wagon master until our election in October. He was given a round of applause for the work he did in Winfield and in Abilene. Bob & Joyce Finley are the Kansas Twister mom and pop. They welcome all, new and old, to each rally and make sure everyone gets settled in, have no troubles there and get going when it’s over.
Bob Finley talked about the July rally in Branson, as he and Joyce will be hosting it. If you plan to go, get in touch with him. Bob also told about a member on the Board of Directors for KSDS, an organization that has working dogs. This person and her dog graduated from school and it was non-other than our own ABBY MURRAY AND HER DOG BB. He gave the newspaper article to Joe and asked if he would send it in to FMCA and maybe they would publish it. For those who don’t know what BB stands for it’s Blue Bunny, but Abby said that isn’t a good name for a dog so she just named her BB. That called for a round of applause for them.
Joe talked about all the members that helped at Winfield since there was no host. They were Bob Finley, Carlos & Joann Blacklock, and Lawrence & Pam Noggle.
Pam Noggle gave Joe some blankets for the children that will be turned over in September at the Six-State Rally. She said she would make more. Joe reminded everyone of the Quilt Challenge.
Joe reminded all the members of the upcoming rallies and to get with the hosts for reservations. If anyone needs to know who are the hosts, where the rallies are at, let me, Edith, know and I will get you the information. There are some very interesting rallies coming up. Joe went over the tentative schedule for 2006. I will get more information for the next printing.
When I, Edith, reserved the Senior Citizens Center for this rally, they were going to charge us by the hour for the time we used it. Joe knows Stella Holt who is well known there and she intervened on our behalf. When it was all said and done, the lady in charge of the center said to do what ever we wanted to do she didn’t want to get on the wrong side of Stella. Carolyn Bennett made a motion that we donate $100.00 to the Senior Citizens Center for the use of their building for two nights. Abby Murray seconded it. It was voted on and passed.
Loretta Marlowe has taken over our web site, updated all the information and will keep updating as needed. Look for any Kansas Twister information you need. E-mail or call her if you have an update or question. Our web site is www.kansastwisters.net.
She and Dave will be leading our caravan to Minot, North Dakota in August. Dave gave us a quick listing of the places we will be stopping and the sight seeing trips they have planned. If you want to caravan with us, let them know as soon as possible as they need to make reservations. We will drive in the mornings and have the afternoons to sightsee. If you want a printout of the caravan agenda, let me know.
Larry Robinson said after the Louisburg rally next month, some of the members are thinking about going down to Pineville for a couple of days. If anyone is interested get with him. It is a non-Twister get together, just friends.
We discussed the name flags and Marilyn Kauffman said she would make them for $15.00, but she also stated that other members do it also, so if you want someone else to make yours, feel free. Get with one of them if you want one. The chapter is talking about getting one made for the host coach so when members get to the campgrounds they just look for the host flag. Some members had theirs out for us to look at. More about that later.
At each of our rallies, we will
be giving back to one lucky winner their rally fees back for the two days
camping. Sometimes the campground will
donate it, but if they don’t it will come out of the chapter funds. Members can only win one time. The Covered Wagon donated $30.00, Dan & Mildred Linn were the winners
and they donated it to the chapter flower fund. Leona Roberts won the two
cozies and Mary Perrier won the FMCA
blanket and carrier.
Joe said that FMCA gives the chapter a packet of door prizes each year with 12 to 14 in it. He would like discussion on the possibility of purchasing more packets so we have more prizes to draw for. The members agreed to have him do that, but to check the price first. He will get more information and have it next rally.
Bob Finley moved the meeting be adjourned, Carolyn Bennett seconded it, all voted to adjourn.
Saturday evening at the Senior Citizen Center, Larry Robinson made a motion to give $1000.00 to KSDS, the organization that Abby Murray got her dog from. Bill Wass seconded it. The members did not pass the motion. Carlos Blacklock made a motion to change the amount to $500.00. Loretta Marlowe seconded it and it passed.
Some of the members were shopping at Alco and found fleece blankets for $5.00 each and since we were donating them to the children in need, they gave them 10% off. Nancy Wright made a motion that the chapter purchases 25 blankets. Bob Erickson seconded it and the motion passed. If you have any blankets and want some place to keep them, I, Edith, am keeping them until the Six-State rally in September. I have about 75 or more as of now but keep making them.
