Minutes from June Rally @ Will Rogers Downs Claremore, OK

The Kansas Twisters met at the Will Rogers Downs/Cherokee Casino on June 11 – 13, 2010 in Claremore Oklahoma.  The rally was attended by the Finley, J. Wright, Hadsell, Hogoboom, Noggle, Snelling, Deihl/Sumner, Smith & Perrier families and guest Patti O’Niel.  Finley had to depart Saturday afternoon after the meeting due to a previous commitment. Everyone arrived on Wed –Fri to attend the rally.

Friday – the KOA had to cancel the Grand Opening due to other conflicts but we had a Hamburger/Hot Dog cook out with plenty of fixings to go around.  There was a film afterwards on “How to be a Professional RV Driver” and of course card games and the Casino drew a lot of attention from our members.

Saturday – We had a breakfast of rolls, bagels & coffee/juice followed by a quick meeting chaired by Albert Hogoboom.  Due to only having 9 members present – we did not have enough to have an official meeting – but announcements were made, John Smith talked about his rally in July at Toronto, Members talked about 6 State in Shreveport and getting registered ASAP, we welcomed back Perriers as members and they also paid for Stices who hopes to join us at a rally soon.  Nancy made an announcement that she had the evening meal prepared for everyone and it was decided we had enough for a Saturday lunch from leftovers last night and would eat at noon.  People left for tours /etc.  At 5:30 Nancy had a German meal of Rouladen, Red Kraut, and Hot German Potato Salad. The evening was spent playing cards or going to the casino or horse racing.

Sunday – Breakfast the same as Saturday, saying goodbye, then going home.  Most people seemed to enjoy the weekend and of course everyone loved visiting and getting to know Patti.  People were reminded to let John Smith know ASAP if they planned to attend Toronto in July.

Respectfully Submitted

April Rally Notes

The April Rally of the Kansas Twisters was held April 9, 10 & 11 at the Deer Creek Valley RV Park in Topeka, Kansas hosted by Bob & Diana Gay.  This is a new RV Park and is one of the nicest we have stayed in.  Topeka is also a nice place to visit as there was more to do (museums, farmers market, casinos, shopping) than we had time to take in all the activities.
Bob & Diana had a great rally planned with pot luck on Friday evening, continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, catered dinner on Saturday evening and plenty of free time to visit town.  Bob also had a LITTLE 14 pound cinnamon roll for breakfast that we ate on for several days.
There was not an official meeting as there were not any elected Officers present except the National Director.  Due to the death of Shirley Hogoboom the evening prior to the rally, Nancy suggested that after the meal Saturday evening everyone would take a moment and tell their fondest memory of Shirley.  It was a moving experience with every person sharing how much they had been touched by her. She will be missed very much.
The rally was attended by the following people:  Gay, J. Wright, Elkins, McCandless, Diehl, *Leiker, *McClelland, *Robinson, Cody, Linn, our new member Sinclaire, and guest/prospective member Johnson.  Everyone was reminded to keep a close eye on our web site for details of the May rally in El Dorado.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Wright      National Director
