All day arrivals & Check In.

5:00 p.m.  Eat at a FREE buffet furnished by the Prairie Band Casino!

Saturday, Sept 12th

8:00 – 9:30 am   The McClellands will give each family a homemade breakfast pie.  Each person could stick their pie in the microwave to warm it up and depending on the weather etc. get a group together at the picnic tables and eat together.  Or if the weather is bad, we have a suite in the casino we can use.  We will most likely use the suite for the business meeting following breakfast.

Lunch is on your own.  And of course the casino would love to give you lots of good winnings if you want gamble during the day!!!

The McClellands rounded up a bunch of discount coupons from restaurants in Topeka.  They will have a drawing for those coupons.  Therefore Saturday evening dinner is on your own and it will be assumed you’ll be going where ever your coupon leads you.

NOTE:  You can get a $25.00 voucher from the Prairie Band Casino if you apply for a Prairie Band Casino card.  Something to keep in mind if you don’t have one already.   Also Loretta believes if you have a card and received a voucher in the mail for a free night at the hotel, you can use it instead for a night at the campground.  But you might double check that fact before getting your hopes up.

Another item to consider, blankets for the children.  The Six-State members have been making or buying small quilts for law enforcement or shelters to give to the children that are in need.  That is a very worthy cause.  The Twisters have done great so far so lets get started for this year.  They can be quilted, crocheted, knitted, or two pieces put together with thin batting in between. Just keep the size for a child to carry.  If you have any and need a place to keep them just give them to me and I will hold them until we go to Sedalia in September.  Edith Leiker

THEY HAVE SMOKED CHICKEN, CHOPS, PULLED PORK, BRISKET, RIBS AND THINGS THAT GO WITH IT. PRICE IS $11.25 PER PERSON.

South 2 miles from the same exit is the Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure with zoo and museum.  That weekend Salina is having their Riverfest with plenty of entertainment, artists, demonstrations, craft markets and plenty of things for kids.

Paul has been looking for places to get together for supper that can accommodate us so please call early.

They have an open shelter with a handicapped restroom and kitchen sink and outlets that we could use for a potluck.  If the weather is bad we can use an area in their office building.

Kansas Twisters Luncheon in Texas, February 2007

The doors to Garcia's private ballroom in Progresso, Mexico opened at 3:45 in the afternoon and the crowds of Winter Texans streamed in to take their seats. Thanks to Ken & Pat Claycamp, the Kansas Twisters had premium reserved seats near the show floor. Present at the Happy hour were, the Claycamps, Bennetts, Perriers, Speers, Barbers, McDiffetts, Herberholtz', and Norma Sattlethight. There were others there but the writer didn't get their names. The waiters arrived with the drinks and Juan; the Master of Ceremonies began to introduce the tables by where they were from. When it came to the Kansas Twisters our great cheer drowned out the rest. The D.J. played old favorites from the rock and roll era and threw in a couple of polkas for good measure. At 5:30 pm Juan introduced the traditional Mexican dance group and they entertained us with a series of traditional folk dances. Some of their dances were in a troupe, others were in couples and a few dances were solo men or solo women twirling and stomping with great artistry. Their hard heels banged out rhythmic tempos that had us all clapping and cheering. The tables reserved for the Twisters by Ken and Pat were right next to the dance floor and we had the best seats in the house for the show. The closing dance was by the men who wore masks and dressed as old men for their comical dance. They pulled women from the floor and danced with them and the happy hour ended with great cheers and laughter. The Twisters hugged and shook hands and promised to meet again soon. Everyone had a great time.

Bill Speer, roving reporter.

KANSAS TWISTERS AUGUST RALLY

August 5th thru 7th, 2005

The Harold Warp Pioneer Village has something to fascinate every member of the family…Highly Educational, Interesting and Entertaining.  The Only museum of Progress in the U.S., where you can "See How America Grew".  Thousands of items placed in their chronological order of development.

We have reservations at the campground located right behind the motel on the east side of the museum complex.  Walking distance from your site would be a long city block - not very far at all.  Total reserved sites is 30 (as of 6/6/05) = 4 of those are 50 AMP ($15.00 and $20.00 + tax) reserved for the handicap & needy, 5 of those are full hookups with 30 AMP ($15.00 + tax) for those that really need to constantly dump and the remainder are water and 30 AMP ($10.00 + tax).  Tax rate as of this date is 6.5%.  Most all of the camping area has tree shade.  Stop in at the motel office upon entering the grounds and pay for your campsite.  They will assign you your site then & there.

NOTE:  You do NOT make your own reservation as the chapter has reserved the sites for you.  HOWEVER, you MUST tell the hosts the exact nights you need a site - for instance, if you will be arriving early or staying through Sunday night.  Remember the caravan to Minot does not leave until Monday morning.

We have also reserved an area in the hotel basement for Friday, Saturday and Sunday - all day and evening.  We'll have coffee, iced tea and lemonade available those days.

The group rate for the museum is $8.50 + tax ($9.05) per person.  This lets you in the museum for the entire weekend you're there ($9.05 total for 3 days of entertainment - can't beat that!!).  For logical reasons, we did NOT include that in your rally fee.  They have a child's rate for grandchildren.

SCHEDULE:

Friday evening at 6 PM we'll have a pot luck of salads, cold cuts/sandwiches & dessert in the basement reserved area. Bring your place setting and drinks if you prefer something other than the above.

It has been suggested that every morning you bring your breakfast to the basement reserved area so you can eat with your fellow friends - the Kansas Twisters, as you decide what your plans are for the day.  If you have rolls or something you want to share with the group, that would be welcome I'm sure.  But you are encouraged to NOT go to a lot of trouble doing that sort of thing.

There will be no Business meeting so none has been scheduled.  Whoopee!! More free time to be a tourist with our friends!

It has been suggested that we meet at the ice cream shop/snack bar inside the museum complex (east side of the center circular walkway) Saturday for lunch, if you like.

Saturday evening we'll have our Buffet Dinner at 6:00 PM in a reserved room at the restaurant.  The cost for that is included in your rally fee.

Sunday will be a day of finishing up the museum for most everyone as it takes a few days to see it all.  Maybe Sunday evening we can all go out for pizza and then prepare our motorhomes/ourselves for the caravan trip.

RALLY FEE:   $26.00 per couple payable at the rally or before - your preference.  We'll take money anytime. Rally fee does NOT include camping costs nor the museum entrance fee.  It includes the buffet/tip/tax for two, the room for 3 days and the refreshments above.

NOTICE:  You MUST let the Marlowes or the Finleys know if you're going to the rally.  They NEED to know by July 18th .         PRETTY PLEASE??????

KANSAS TWISTERS JULY RALLY

TREASURE LAKE RESORT

BRANSON, MISSOURI

Date:  July 22, 23 & 24th

Hosts:  Bob & Joyce Finley

We have not scheduled any organized activity including shows or dining for our rally.

If we all want to see a show together, we can decide after we arrive at the resort.  There are discount tickets to your favorite shows available at the office so once we decide where and when we’re going, we can pick up those discount tickets.

Treasure Lake has organized activities you can participate in if desired.   They also have 2 swimming pools for our use – one indoor and one outdoors.

We will have shared use of the clubhouse on the grounds whenever it is open and available.  They have coffee on for the guests, meeting rooms for use if not being used already, reading material, and plenty of tables/chairs for playing games.

Breakfast is available at the clubhouse for a charge on Saturday & Sunday.

     COSTS:

When you arrive, check in at the office first.  They will have your name on a list of expected arrivals for the Kansas Twisters.  Hopefully they can put you near the group but this in not guaranteed, as we cannot save sites or areas.  When you check in, you will pay our group rate fee of $16.61 a night to Treasure Lake Resort.  You will have full hookups.

There is no Kansas Twisters rally fee for this rally as basically, nothing is being provided.

     CONTACTS:

Call the Finleys at or email them if you plan on going.  The resort needs to know how many will be coming at least a month before the rally.  So give the Finleys your reservation by the June rally, PLEASE.

    HOW TO GET THERE:

Treasure Lake is located near the intersection of Hwy 376 and West Highway 76 and Shepherd of the Hills Expressway (immediately behind the IMAX Theater and Mall, and bordering the Hennings Wildlife Refuge Area.).  The entry sign is on the north side of Shepherd of the Hills Expressway.  It is small and hard to see (it’s located below the IMAX Theater sign) so take it slow so that when you see it you can immediately react and turn.  The entrance/driveway to Treasure Lake Resort is just after the IMAX sign if you are arriving from the east.   It will be a right hand turn off the Expressway.

Treasure Lake recommends that you come in on US 65, then take Hwy 248 to the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, turn west and follow the Expressway all the way to the resort.  If you go through the intersection of Hwy 76 and Hwy 376, you have gone too far.

The phone number for Treasure Lake is 1-800-455-2961 or 1-417-334-1040.

The rally fee is $25.00 instead of $20.00. This was a mistake. The catered meals are $l0.00 each person.. This was just reversed. They will still pay their own parking. Sorry. Maybe this will be the last revision.

So any questions, just e-mail us.

Thanks Dick & Bea

Abilene is an interesting place to visit, so come one come all and have fun and explore the city.

If anyone who hasn't contacted me that they will be there, please do so. Call or e-mail

It looks like our son and daughter-in-law will be back from Baghdad earlier that expected, and if that happens, we will be at the April rally in Winfield.

We are hosting the May 6 - 8, 2005 Kansas Twister rally at the Covered Wagon RV Resort in Abilene, Kansas. I would like to get a count of how many to plan for because it will make a difference in where and what we plan. If you think you will be coming e-mail or call me as soon as possible. If you need to cancel later you can do so.

Part of the reason I need to know now, is we won't be able to make the April rally in Winfield. Our son and daughter-in-law are serving in Baghdad and are scheduled to be home the end of March, and I hate to say this but we would rather see them after being gone a year than come to the rally. Isn't that a crock. Makes you wonder where are priorities are. Right?

Anyway, I need to do this before we leave. E-mail me

Hope you have a great time in Winfield and we hope to have a large crowd in Abilene.

See you then,

Edith & Wayne Leiker

Who even wants to can go with us as a group to the Royal Oakes Arena restaurant just 4 miles from the campground.  The Coachlight people have sent many groups there with no complaints.  We will have a chance to look at the menu before hand and maybe give the restaurant a heads-up on what entrées we will be ordering.  We’ll talk about that Friday.  Instead of doing a potluck, the hosts will cook on Friday evening and we all can go to a restaurant Saturday evening.  This will be our last rally for 2004 so let’s just enjoy it.

Sunday, October 10th

The Coachlight Campground will provide doughnuts and coffee for us.

The weather should be great this time of the year and it is a beautiful campground with lots of trees.

I have the following registered, if your name isn’t on the list and you want to come, let me know and if you have to cancel do the same, BARB, BLACKLOCK, BOGGS, ELKINS, FISCHER, HADSALL, HARDISON, HILDEBRAND, HOGOBOOM, KOONS, LITTLE, MANETH, MARLOWE, MAY, MCCURDY, NOGGLE, NUSSER, ORMSBEE, PASHMAN, RICHARDSON, ROBBINS, ROBERTS, RYEL, SCHWART, SCRANTON, SMITH, SPEER, STAVER, STRATTON.

to direct you to the correct site that is reserved for the Twisters.

On Friday evening there is a Musical Program at 7 p.m. in the encampment Building. This is in addition to the German Buffet and Mini Auction. We will give you a booklet with all the Mennonite Sale information in it when you check in. There will be plenty of food to enjoy and lots of

sale items.

After our catered dinner on Saturday evening, at 7 p.m. we will be entertained by The Buhler Singers from Buhler High School. This is a much in demand talented group, you will enjoy.

New York FMCA Rally in July: FMCA President Jefcoat, stated that only the first 5,000

and want to be parked with the Twisters, you will need to bring your completed application

with you to Hutchinson. (Application is in the April FMCA magazine) I plan to send all of the

applications in at the same time so we can get the same entry day. We are also planning to

caravan to Buffalo with about 3 night stops along the way. I will need to make Campground reservations for those stops and probably should do so ASAP.
